Chicago Deskset — Game Night

Hi all,

When is the last time you hung out at the arcade? Come to Chicago Deskset’s game night at Dave & Buster’s. This is very low key — just games, beer and some time to hang out with your fellow Desksetters. Think of it as networking…with some DDR thrown in the mix.

We will meet up Friday, November 5th, after we have all finished work for the week. We can meet up out front at 7:30PM. If you show up late, no problem! Just wander around until you find Adam battling Tony at Star Wars Pod Racing 🙂

You can RSVP to the Facebook event and tell your friends! All are invited.

Hope to see you there!

Epiphany — Innovation & Leadership #ila10

I had an awesome conversation tonight with Gail Bush (President of ILA and Rockstar).  She said that the profession needs my (our) skills, innovation, activism, technology.  I replied that we need leadership training.  Together we realize that we need each other.  We have something to learn from each other.  For Innovative Leadership requires collaboration, and today I understood that on a whole new level. I am so excited about the next chapter in my life, the next chapter of libraries, and the next chapter of my beloved profession.  I am so proud of Illinois librarians, and am so glad to call myself an Illinois librarian.

Chicago Deskset — ILA — Pub Crawl

The Information Activist, the Chicago Desksetters, and pretty much all the awesome library people in the area will be at ILA’s Annual Conference this week.  Talk to you next week.

The Chicago Deskset will be hosting one of the four sites for ILA’s “The Hidden Secrets of Streeterville”.

Are you free Wednesday evening?  Come hang out with other librarians and the Chicago Deskset at Elephant & Castle at 160 E Huron Avenue from 8PM to 11PM.  When you see the red British phone booth you know that you have arrived.  Come out and talk about civic librarianship over a pint, or lend your taste buds to the catalogers.  We intend on cataloging each of the 16 draft imports.  Our professional commitment is so great that it drips off our chins.

Please RSVP on the Facebook event page.

On behalf of the Chicago Deskset,

Anthony Molaro
