Chicago Deskset — ILA Pub Crawl

The Chicago Deskset will be hosting one of the four sites for ILA’s “The Hidden Secrets of Streeterville”.

Are you free Wednesday evening?  Come hang out with other librarians and the Chicago Deskset at Elephant & Castle at 160 E Huron Avenue from 8PM to 11PM.  When you see the red British phone booth you know that you have arrived.  Come out and talk about civic librarianship over a pint, or lend your taste buds to the catalogers.  We intend on cataloging each of the 16 draft imports.  Our professional commitment is so great that it drips off our chins.

Please RSVP on the Facebook event page.

On behalf of the Chicago Deskset,

Anthony Molaro

Book: Public Libraries and Social Justice

Just a quick post to mention a new book that I am totally excited about!  The book is title Public Libraries and Social Justice by John Pateman and John Vincent out of the UK.  The recommendation comes to me from someone I admire a great deal, Toni Samek. Toni, besides an awesome name, is a vigorous advocate for social justice, social responsibility and human rights.  I suggest looking at some of her work!
